School Organisation
Lordship Farm primary school currently accommodates approximately 440 children. Allocation of children into classes is on a chronological basis.
Currently the school is organised as follows:
Each teacher is responsible for the education and pastoral care of the children in his or her class and may also take on an overall responsibility for a particular aspect of the school’s curriculum. As an ‘open plan’ school, we operate a ‘team teaching’ approach, which means that in practice, children may be taught by different teachers during the course of the week.
It is also important to note that class groupings are not fixed for a child’s entire time at Lordship Farm. Each summer, we review class arrangements for the following September, considering the needs, personalities, and dynamics of each cohort. Where we feel it is appropriate, we may reorganise classes to ensure the best possible outcomes for all children.
Changes to groupings are made using the professional judgement of the class teachers and supporting colleagues, including our SENCO and senior leaders, who know the children well through their time with the cohort across the year. This collaborative approach ensures that decisions are made in the best interests of all pupils.
We believe this flexibility benefits the children greatly. It allows us to create balanced, supportive learning environments and encourages pupils to build resilience, adapt to change, and develop strong social skills—all of which are valuable both in school and in later life.
Admission arrangements:
We follow Hertfordshire County Council’s (HCC’s) policy on admissions, as outlined in the Admission to Primary Schools booklet, which is sent to all parents of three-year-old children by the County Council.
Applications for Nursery places are managed directly by the school. Reception places, however, are managed centrally by HCC. Admissions outside of the Nursery and Reception (known as in-year admissions) must be made through the HCC admissions portal.
When applying for a place in our Nursery, please note the following:
-
Morning sessions (9:00am – 12:00 noon) are offered daily as part of the statutory entitlement and are led by a qualified nursery teacher.
